Missing San Lucas? Want to learn more about Guatemala? Friends of San Lucas is offering virtual learning opportunities. We hope to see you at one of these upcoming events!
Celebrating Corn: Cooking Class with Guicha
August 14, 2021 at 11:00am CDT
You’re invited to join Guicha Ajcibinac, Director of the Women’s Center in San Lucas, for a virtual cooking class. Join us on Zoom to prepare a corn-based dish, in celebration of National Corn Day in Guatemala! After you register, you’ll receive a shopping list with common ingredients to purchase in advance of the class. Guicha will teach in Spanish, and an interpreter will translate to English.
Coffee Hour: Directors Leonel and Bill
August 18, 2021 at 12:00pm CDT
If we were in San Lucas together, we would be spending time connecting in the Biblioteca over a good (great!) cup of coffee. Why not chat over Zoom instead? For those of you who have been missing our friends at the Mission during this time when we haven’t been able to travel, or for anyone who’s just interested in meeting some Mission employees, this could be a great way to spend part of your day! Through the Coffee Hour virtual event series, we will informally connect Mission staff and Friends of San Lucas supporters on a monthly basis for storytelling, Q&A, and conversation.
Grab a cup of your favorite Juan Ana roast and spend some time connecting with SLM/FOSL Directors Leonel and Bill Peterson!
If you need to stock up before the event, visit Café Juan Ana!
