CHAPTER NINE:
A Glimpse of Mission History
Father Greg played an essential role in founding the Mission. What many people don’t know is that several other “co-founders” made critical contributions to the formation of the Mission. Among these people are Father John Goggin and the School Sisters of Notre Dame. The School Sisters who contributed to the founding of the Mission were:
- Sr. Sandra (formerly Philomena) Spencer, 1964-1982
- Sr. Mary Medard Zweber, 1964-1969
- Sr. Patricia Nagle, 1969-1970
- Sr. Arne’ Malecha, 1971-1979
- Sr. Margaret Joyce, 1972-1980
- Sr. Rita Studer, 1972-1976
- Sr. Dorothy Wagner, 1974-1981
- Sr. Patricia McCusker, 1978-1979
- Sr. Linda Wanner, 1980-1990
- Sr. Marie Vianney Bilgrien, 1983-1985
- Sr. Rose Ann Ficker, 1984-1988
- Sr. Marie Perpetua Kimball, 1983-1985
Enjoy this slideshow of some of the School Sisters who helped to establish the Mission school, healthcare program, and orphanage. (And stay tuned next week for photos of Father John!)
