Mission Center Name Announcement!

A few months ago, we shared that construction had begun on a new San Lucas Mission Center. Today, the Center has an official name — K’aslem Jay.
In the local Mayan dialect of Kaqchikel, k’aslem means life. But it’s not simply being alive, it’s a way of living with respect, responsibility, and connection to others. Jay means house or home. Together, K’aslem Jay can be understood as “a home with life.”

For the Kaqchikel-speaking community, this name reflects what the Center is meant to be: more than just a building. It will be a space where people gather to learn, share meals, hold meetings, strengthen relationships, and ultimately, to transform the community’s future.

Now we need your help to keep the momentum going. Your gift today will support the continued construction of K’aslem Jay and help create a welcoming space that will serve the community and visitors for generations to come.
