The Power of the Health Promoter Program

March 30, 2020
The Health Promoter Program is now at the front lines of the growing Covid-19 threat. As you read this, Health Promoters are receiving special training, protective equipment, and medicine. They are beginning to use a mass-texting application to communicate quickly with each other to monitor the spread of the virus in their communities. They will also use this system to receive updated treatment protocols. And while, as of March 29th, Covid-19 has not arrived in San Lucas, they will be ready when it does.

Meet Marta, Our Grower of the Month!

Marta is a coffee grower who has been selling her yield to Juan Ana Coffee for the past seven years. With the money she earns, Marta invests in her children’s education, maintenance of their home, and the expansion of her farmland.

Our First Hybrid Home

September 22, 2019
In June, we dedicated our first “hybrid” house. Part block and part wood and designed by Mission staff, it will last longer than the all-wood homes and be cheaper to build than all-block homes.

Remembering Marcos Tun

August 12, 2019
On August 8, 2019, Marcos Tun, father of Leonel and Rafael Tun and father-in-law of Emi Tun, passed away. He was 91 years old. Marcos played an important role in the early years of the Mission as a confidant and advisor to Fr. Greg.
