#FeedingTheFuture Child Nutrition Fundraiser
Meet the Castros
The four Castro children suffered from malnutrition from infancy because their family could not afford to adequately feed them. Malnutrition in childhood can have a lifelong impact. But, thanks to early intervention made possible by the San Lucas Mission Child Nutrition Program, the Castro children were brought out of malnutrition. They not only survived, but are thriving into adulthood. The Child Nutrition Program has reduced child deaths from malnutrition by 80% over the past decade.
The healthcare leadership in San Lucas predicts that the pandemic will increase the number of children suffering from malnutrition and we want to be ready to meet the need. We know that the effects of malnutrition can continue for decades including: stunted growth, diminished cognitive ability, diminished capacity for manual labor, and an increase in diabetes and hypertension. You can help us position the Child Nutrition Program so that, as the pandemic dissipates, we are equipped to immediately respond to the increase of children who need nutritional supplements.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to respond to the increased need for child nutrition services. We are inviting you to be a part of this life-saving campaign. Your gifts will ensure that every child in San Lucas who is identified as malnourished in the wake of Covid-19 will not have to suffer its effects for a lifetime. Your donation will literally give them their life back.
This campaign ends Sunday, August 9 at midnight. Thank you for your commitment to this vital work.
