The purpose of the Visitor Program is to provide opportunities for relationship building, learning, and to experience the culture of San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala.
Individuals and groups travel from all over the world to experience San Lucas through learning-service trips. Visitors collaborate with FOSL staff to develop their group’s itinerary, which may include participation in service projects alongside Mission staff or learning about life in Guatemala during discussions with local community members.
Through meeting community members and experiencing the area, visitors can learn about the richness of Maya culture, the work of the Mission, and life in Guatemala. Although a week or two may only offer a glimpse into a different world, there is much to be learned about the turbulent and complex history of Guatemala, the Maya people, and the community development efforts of the Mission.
