Juntos Podemos Scholarship

Those who have visited San Lucas know just how special of an opportunity it is to experience a different culture and way of life, build relationships, take in the stunning views, and to learn about yourself and others along the way. We do our best to make the program as affordable as possible but also recognize that cost can be a barrier for someone to participate. So many have cited their visit to San Lucas as being life-changing. Our goal is to make the Visitor Program more accessible to more people and to increase the diversity of people who visit San Lucas Tolimán.

To support those with a demonstrated financial need, we are now offering a scholarship to curb the in-country costs of your visit or time spent as a Long-Term Volunteer. ‘Juntos podemos’ in Spanish means ‘together, we can.’ Perhaps traveling to Guatemala is not financially possible on your own, but with the help and support of others… together, we can turn your dream of visiting San Lucas into reality.

Anyone is welcome to apply, but we strongly encourage applicants who are:

  • First time visitors to San Lucas
  • Long-Term Volunteers
  • Black, Indigenous, People of Color
  • 25 and under
  • Able to demonstrate a financial need

If you have any questions about the scholarship or application process, please don’t hesitate to contact ellen.mathiowetz@sanlucasmission.org. We also encourage you to consider fundraising for their visit with Café Juan Ana!

How to Apply

To be considered for the scholarship, simply fill out an application online. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and selected recipients will be notified of the outcome within a few weeks of submitting.
